It’s the first day back to university and already time to present and talk over our initial ideas with the group. It was a good day to see what everyone is thinking of doing, great and relaxed way of doing it. I liked the fact that we just sat around a table and got valuable feedback from other students and Liam from our thoughts.
My ideas and thoughts on what I want to do for this new project, the extended major project.
I first started on what it is I like doing in my spare time.
- Maps, drawing?
- Dreamweaver
- Web sites
- Tv, own channel line up, idents
- Movies
- Google maps & earth
One of my ideas I am thinking of doing is something with maps
- Maps
- Video directions
- (sort of sat nav)
- On websites (google)
- Photos of locations
- Videos of locations
- Drawing of buildings (maps)
- Floor plans
- Geological maps
- Fictional maps
Another thought I talked about was what I called ‘video maps’, everyone laughed when I explained what I meant. I thought it would be a good way of describing, maps coming to life, a bit like google earth but video instead of photos.
Video maps, the real world.
Videos in maps of places when events are on for example Bournemouth sea front, a video if possible of the air festival and so on.
Some of the feedback I got from the group was good, they mentioned the following.
Everything in the current world we live in is compressed information and is most often displayed as maps for example the human body with different systems, the circulatory and the nervous system.
Also maybe my idea would might be an add on in the popular Google Earth, along the lines of Street View.
The tutors Liam and Phil also reminded us that we need to keep in mind technology and that we need to work on the learning agreement for our new project.
I also need to remember about the latest technology of the moment in what I do and the video aspect, for example it seems to be all about high definition.
