Computer Generated Spaces

This is my final outcome and I am pleased with it because I made it look like a real roller coaster with the smallest details in it, I was particuarly happy with the area focused around the wheels. This is what I enjoyed about this project, modeling in 3D.

As I said earlier one of the areas I was pleased with was the wheels, the way they wrap around the rails has worked really well. I had been looking at different types of wheels on the internet via search engine Google, one of the best now a days.

This is one of the very first things I started after I had done some brainstorming on my experiences and feelings of my life which was part of the brief. I started doing basic modeling shapes with nurbs in the new bit of software which I had to learn. It is the start of my roller coaster track, basic rectangles, squares and cylinders, just building it up. This software was called Maya and there was quite a few group tutorials on it however I found the more complex stuff complicated. This bit of software has millions of drop down menus and loads of options on the first and second click of the mouse.

Next I started with a basic frame square for the roller coaster base and started to build down towards the track I have done. If you look carefully at the wheels they are only very basic circles which I later build up into the details of my final outcome. You can see a later screen shot version below the below image.

Time to add that extra detail to the wheels. I have also started to add colour to the roller coaster track, as this is a personal experience I have chosen to use my favorite colour blue in my project. I have also built up the look of the roller coaster, top half known as the car. Another screen shot below.
