21st Century Web Design - What is Semantic Web?

Intro
In my essay for the refining and defining themes and issues unit I have asked myself what is semantic web and to answer and find out about this I will go back to the beginnings of the world wide web and start afresh. I am doing this as it will help me with the future of web development as I want to work in this industry when I leave university.
